“Revelations of a Sony Adman,” will walk you through the halls of Madison Avenue post “Mad Men” era while creating advertising campaigns just as famous as the TV series itself. You’ll go behind the scenes of how our team launched the compact disc player which became the fastest growing home entertainment product in history.
I’ll also discuss the cultural and religious idiosyncrasies our family encountered in 1990's Utah after moving from New York to take a job at a “rocket ship” of a company called Iomega. Steve Jobs will make an appearance and I’ll tell you about an unforgettable night with Stevie Wonder that began with a game of air hockey. The story concludes with my return to Sony as the VP of Marketing Communications only to witness the implosion of our mobile phone business. Here is a cautionary tale that will inform, entertain, and appeal to a broad audience.

Adman Scott Westover has followed his successful one man show with a presentation called, "How to Think Like a Marketing Ninja." This 60 minute module uses real life, anecdotal stories to offer sage advice about how to get ahead in marketing. I'll pull from a long marketing career with some of the most recognized companies in the world including 13 years at Sony Corporation.
I’ll tell you about how our team introduced the compact disc player that became the fastest growing consumer electronics product in history. I’ll also describe a cautionary tale of how Sony lost its focus and allowed the door to be kicked in by Apple’s iPhone.
But this Ninja presentation is more than a guide to the do’s and don’ts of introducing technology. The topics of leadership, respect and resilience are all addressed. In fact, "How to Think Like a Marketing Ninja" is just as relevant for a class of college business students as it is for the sales team of a Fortune 500 company.

is a script for a feature movie docudrama inspired by a true story.
When a young Sony executive risks his career pitching an audacious ad campaign featuring Stevie Wonder to launch the compact disc player, he sparks a digital music revolution that transforms Sony from electronics company to entertainment giant.
There is drama, palace intrigue, exotic locales, unique characters and an insider’s look at an iconic company similar to THE SOCIAL NETWORK, BLACKBERRY, STEVE JOBS and AIR.
The early 80's saw America in its worst recession since the great depression. Especially hard hit was the record industry. Disco music had fallen out of fashion, unemployment was at 11% and CBS Records had laid off 300 people. This movie tells the story of how the launch of the compact disc player and CD injected billions of dollars into the industry and gave Sony the confidence to buy CBS Records and Columbia Pictures. Widely criticized at the time, those two acquisitions today have an estimated value of $60 billion dollars.
Stevie Wonder, Steve Jobs and Akio Morita all make appearances in this unbelievable tale of power and money. Westover provides a first hand account of the origins of Sony's transformation from electronics giant to one of the most respected entertainment companies in the world.
